You didn’t realize how quickly it happened. It just did. The past 10 years brought 4G LTE, putting the world in our pocket, connected instantaneously to infinite data, using the cloud and powered with Artificial Intelligence. IBM Watson and Google Deepmind proved AI better than human in practice. Tesla with millions of electric vehicles connected to a neural network. Continuous upgrades for perpetually improving robots with datacentres.

Uber, Lift and on demand transportation disrupting with efficient and ubiquitous services. Airbnb allowing you to make money on your real estate today and giving a unique experience for travellers. Voice control everywhere using Amazon Echo and Google Assistant devices and with VR + AR: Oculus & Hololens got us off the screen into the matrix. Slack is finally getting us off decades old email! DJI Drones totally conquered the aircraft, photo & video world. Cryptocurrency like Bitcoin and Ethereum created digital assets and decentralizing money away from governments and banks.

Exponential technologies are those which are rapidly accelerating and shaping major industries and our lives. They include artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR, VR), data science, digital biology and biotech, digital fabrication, robotics, and autonomous vehicles.

But despite all these amazing technologies, we’re nearly 8 billion people on the planet, facing some major social, political, economic and environmental problems. Many of us want to do something about it but we feel stuck and unsure of what to do. We’re struggling to find the right action to take on issues like conflict, poverty, the destruction of nature, and spread of misinformation. Its time to learn how to unlearn and relearn so we can shed broken systems faster and adopt improved technologies sooner for the future of good.

There are many conflicting perspectives on this problem, and it’s difficult to make sense of what is going on and what to do about it.

> Should we build a bunker?
> Elect better authorities?
> Tear down the power structures?
> Create a new system?
> Build a civilization on Mars?
> Take more personal responsibility?

To answer these questions, Future Thinkers are creating a new video series, which explores different ways in which we can improve how we make sense of what is happening, adapt to change, and contribute meaningfully to the world.

The video episodes will cover subjects related to:

  • Sense-making and cognitive sovereignty: getting clear about how we perceive, think about, and take action in the world.
  • Resilience and shadow work: facing the unconscious mind and our evolved nature to become more resilient.
  • Upgrading culture & society: experimenting with new systems for society, governance and civilization.
  • Overcoming the meaning crisis: finding the path to a life of meaning and purpose.
